Extensible Markup Language (XML) enables the Web designer to create information that is evolvable: write it once and use it many times. This class is for those with no programming background who want to learn more about XML.
Course Prerequisites
To gain the most from the class:
- Attendees should be comfortable with basic HTML prior to taking this course.
Software Needed on Each Student Computer
- Internet Explorer 6 or higher
- Firefox 2 or higher
- Web page or text editor students will be using after the class
Course Objectives
- XML structure and syntax
- Creating well-formed XML documents
- Creating document type definitions (DTDs) and schemas
- Creating valid XML documents
- Defining and using entities
- Displaying XML documents using Cascading Style Sheets, data binding, and document object model scripts
